MSC is a family-oriented fishing club organized to stimulate public awareness of striped bass fishing. We promote sportmanship, conservation and demand adequate water quality. We're based in Columbia, S.C. on beautiful Lake Murray.
Tournaments are held on the third Saturday of each month, with times following safe light conditions. Membership fee is currenty $30 per year for the entire family or $15 after July 1st. If you wish to join, you may download an application form in Adobe Acrobat Reader format here. (NOTE: MSC does not mail a membership packet. Takes Plus Nichols Store Of Rock Hill Big Fish!
1st Place (21.01 lbs) & Nichols Store Big Fish (13.12 lbs): Team Even Kreel
Midlands Striper Club held its monthly Lake Murray tournament out of Dreher Island on June 20, 2015. 23 teams participated in the event, bringing a total of 44 striped bass to the scales weighing 218.66 pounds, a 4.97 pound average. This is the MSC’s first Lake Murray points tournament since the “5 & Done” rules were put in place. It was a great turnout for the June event and 21 teams brought full two fish creels to the scales. Following the weigh-in the teams had a cook-out catered by Holy Smokes BBQ.
Finishing first with a total weight of 21.01 pounds was Team Even Kreel, captained by John Sightler from Lexington, SC along with Troy Blackwell and Rob Lafata, both from Chapin, SC. Even Kreel earned the Big Fish award with a 13.12 pound striper.
Finishing in second place, with a total weight of 14.67 pounds, was Team Catchall, captained by Lee Thomas along with Kreg Frady and Kolden Frady, all from Leesville, SC, and Carl Thompson from Santee, SC. Team Catchall member Kolden Frady was awarded the Youth Angler Award. Finishing third with a total weight of 13.95 pounds was Team Shad Up & Fish, captained by Woody Barnes, from Lexington, SC along with Tom Gitto, from Chapin, SC, and Cam Littlejohn from Columbia, SC.
Finishing in eleventh place with a total weight of 9.77 pounds was Team Wildman. Finishing in eighteenth place with a total weight of 6.85 pounds was Team Gar-Heart. The Lady Angler awards went to Liz Sineath and Erika Sineath from Lexington, SC fishing with Team Stone Age. The event's Smallest Creel went to Team Cat Chin Any ,with a total weight of 1.54 pounds.
